"When in Rome, do as the Romans" - come to Šolta and experience the traditional olive harvest accompanied by experienced local olive growers. Spend your days surrounded by green olive trees, breathing in the aroma of medicinal herbs Šolta and take part in making extra virgin olive oil of exceptional quality.
Olive harvest begins in mid-October and extends to December. With 2,750 hours of sunshine annually you are sure to feel the sun on your skin during harvesting, and with any luck you will be able to bathe in the sea at the end of a "work day".
In the olive grove will learn all about the cultivation of olive trees, the traditional way of picking, which is still manually even nowadays, and about the process of making olive oil in the oil mill. "Liquid gold" from Šolta has been winning gold medals for years, and recently it has received its designation of origin on the European Union level.
A day in the olive grove is not complete without lunch in the fresh air with a glass of local red wine, and the completion of harvest is usually celebrated with traditional peka - a slow cooked dish under the lid in the open fireplace.
